IUU fishing constitutes one of the most serious threats to the sustainable exploitation of living aquatic resources. European (EC) Regulation No 1005/2008 of 29 September 2008 establishes a Community system to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
